1. iRobot Roomba i3+ EVO

Both robots are adept at cleaning up surface debris from carpets and hard floors, and they’re excellent at getting around furniture and other obstacles. iAdapt navigation software creates smart map of your home to assist the i3+ to navigate and clean up efficiently. However, unlike the i7+ and other top-rated robots we tested, the i3+ doesn’t have a feature for avoiding obstacles and therefore it could get stuck on things such as power cords or socks, and may have issues navigating across surface transitions, such as from hardwood to rug.
iRobot suggests that you clean up the area where the i3+ EVO vacuums before using it. This includes putting away any toys or clutter it may encounter. It’s also a good idea to keep the dustbin and filter clean so they don’t become clogged with dirt. When the i3+’s internal bin is filled or the battery is depleted it will return to its docking station and automatically empties its dirt into the station’s external dustbin, and then continues cleaning the area where it began. The i3+ EVO’s batteries last for approximately an hour and a half of continuous use, and takes about three hours to fully recharge.
2. IRobot Roomba i7+
The iRobot i7+ is a top model from iRobot’s flagship line, and it comes with the latest features. It is self-charging and self-navigating. However, the most important feature is the self-emptying bin. This will eliminate the need for routine maintenance.
The Roomba I7+ can make rooms more efficient maps using Imprint Smart Mapping. It also works with iRobot Home to schedule cleaning tasks, and it can control your robot via the app or via voice.
In our tests, the i7+ was more agile and faster than our runner-up and the eufy RoboVac G30, and it took large pieces of pet hair from all surfaces kinds, including carpeting. Its main advantage over the eufy, though, is its self-emptying dustbin which removes a major source of maintenance and cuts down on the amount of time spent cleaning.
We were also awestruck by the i7+’s compatibility with Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant AI services, which we used to instruct the robot to start, stop or pause its cleaning routines and move around the room and sweep a specific space. Connecting the i7+ to these services was simple and straightforward using the iRobot Home app. Once connected, to speak commands to the i7+ such as “Hey Alexa vacuum the master bedroom.” The iRobot Home app also provides options to manage the i7+’s settings and monitoring its performance.
3. Dyson Cyclone V10
This tiny Dyson model is an all-sports car that is amidst a sea of vacuums with cords that feel like minivans and buses. It has the power and features to replace a stand-up vacuum in the majority of households however, it can also fit nicely on the coffee table or a bookshelf where you can wave it around like the magic wand.
The V10 is powered by a 7-cell energy-dense lithium-ion battery which produces fade-free power for 60 minutes. Its sophisticated whole-machine filtration system traps allergens and releases clean air back into your home. The cleaning head is specially designed to drive bristles made of nylon that are stiff into carpet to collect large particles and fine dust. It has three suction modes that can be adapted to suit the task. It quickly switches from floor vac to handheld vacuum, and then back to floor.
This model has a dock which charges the Dyson to 100% within 3.5 hours. It also offers the ability to connect two attachments as well as the handheld. This is a huge improvement over the older Dysons, which require a lengthy charge and are a pain to store.
The main drawback of the V10 is its limited run time. Its claims on the market that it has up to 60 minutes of run time are not true as CR’s tests have shown. This is a common, not exceptional, battery-powered vacuum’s run time. This is enough time to clean a typical-sized home, but not enough to reach every area. (A second run usually works). This doesn’t mean that this model isn’t a good choice: It’s lighter and mobile than the older cordless Dysons and its vacuuming performance is noticeably better on carpets with low pile.
4. iRobot Roomba 694″
The 694 is a basic robotic vacuum that’s a great option for those who don’t have lots of money to invest in a robot. It’s capable of sucking up all debris types and sizes during our tests, and often goes over the same areas several times to get a really thorough clean. The flat front of the unit allows it reach into corners and along the walls’ edges and walls, which is a nice addition.
Its navigation system is smart and uses iAdapt technology to avoid obstacles and help you navigate your home. However, it isn’t equipped with the mapping capabilities of more advanced models, such as our top picks, i3+EVO and j7+ Series. It can get stuck on cords for phones or furniture that is low and will often run out of power before returning to its base.
The Xiaomi Mi robot vacuum is superior to the Roomba 694 in all aspects because it has fewer components that require regular cleaning It also comes with an allergen-trapping HEPA filter, has lower recurring costs, comes with more advanced automation capabilities and is more efficient in moving itself. It also has a larger dustbin and can charge faster.
The eufy RoboVac X8 has a superior battery life than the Roomba. It also has physical boundaries strips that can be controlled with the voice assistant on your smartphone. It also feels more sturdy, has a more powerful motor, and performs notably better on floors that are bare and carpets with low pile, while providing a wider array of features for automation.
5. Samsung Jet Bot AI+
Samsung is a household name in the field of home electronics. It’s not surprising that they are also among the top manufacturers of robot vacuums and mop. Jet Bot AI+ has an advanced onboard technology that allows for navigation and obstacle avoidance.
The app provides plenty of options to personalize your robotic cleaner, including virtual barriers, mopping water levels and behavior modification docking frequency settings and more. The app is simple to navigate and use similar to other Samsung devices.
In our tests in our tests, the Jet Bot AI+ performed well on hard floors, and removed 86% of dog hair (on carpet). However, it did not do particularly well at avoiding taller objects like cords and socks which was disappointing. It’s also a bit more expensive than the other models we tried, which might be a deterrent for certain shoppers.
The app allows you to access the camera onboard of the smart vacuum. You can also set up live streaming from the Robot Vacuum Mops‘s cleaning area. This feature allows you to monitor your children or pets when you are away. The filter and the dustbin can be cleaned for an easy, quick clean-up. The Jet Bot AI+ comes with an automatic clean station which helps keep the robot’s bin clear and maximizes suction power.
6. Black & Decker Robot Vacuum
In contrast to other robotic vacuums that are made for hard floors and carpets, Black and Decker robots are specifically designed for hard floors. They feature an extra-wide cleaning path and a larger dust bin that can hold 2X more debris than competitors to keep the cleaning area clear for maximum runtime. They also include two side sweepers to clean around corners and edges. The POWERSERIES Extreme model also comes with AutoSense technology, which detects if it’s picking up dirt on surfaces or embedded dirt and automatically adjusts the power level. The vacuum also has an app that lets you to view a virtual map, control functions, and create schedules. You can also monitor the status of the vacuum’s battery and then return it to its dock for charging at the touch of a button. The app also allows you to customize the lights on top of the vacuum using different colors, so that you can clearly see the areas where it’s focused or where it’s gotten stuck.
The app also makes it easy to manually steer the robot in the event of need. For example my living room rug has a darkly colored border that tends to cause confusion for other robots I’ve tested. The HRV 425BL, however, continued to move across the border without ever registering the cliff. And the ability to program weekly cleaning schedules is a fantastic time-saving feature.
